I chose to talk about DB Motosports & Auto Repair, LLC for my blog post. This is a local company that I found while doing some competitive research for our marketing plan, and found they had some reviews that would be a good basis for learning from.
DB Motosports & Auto Repair is a family owned business and values high quality workmanship. The owner has worked for dealerships before which is where he gained his experience.
The posts that I have included relate to what we have talked about in class because this is a very small business that does not have a large financial backing to spend a lot on marketing. So when something happens, such as a bad review in this case, they are going to have to do what they can to keep that one bad review from bringing new customers in. Like Gary Vaynerchuk talks about in Jab Jab Jab, Right Hook, Facebook and social media can be a very influential factor in marketing. For a company this small, the brand that they have needs to be maintained as well as possible.
If I was the brand manager, I would have responded in a very similar way. They handled it quite well by explaining why they had done what was done. However, if it was me as the manager I probably wouldn’t have included such a long explanation. It was fairly evident from the message that the owner left that the man was not very professional when dealing with the company and that is no way to treat someone and then expect respect back. I think this was the right thing to do, especially when customer relations and employees are an important value for your company.
Upon completing this assignment I have found that there is never a right response to someone leaving a bad review on your company, there are only ways that you can try to reverse the impact of the negative review.
